Collaboration in different domains to achieve a common goal was taken a notch higher when the Pangasinan State University welcomed the Batangas State University for its study site visit and needs assessment on July 22, 2024.
The meeting of the two universities transpired at the Urdaneta City Campus of PSU in eastern Pangasinan to explore potential partnerships and initiatives that are beneficial to both institutions.
Dr. Roy C. Ferrer, Campus Executive Director of PSU-UC, set the tone with his welcoming remarks, highlighting the university’s commitment to fostering meaningful partnerships.
“The name of the game now is collaboration not competition, that is why we are happy and humbled to have you here despite the weather disturbance brought by Typhoon Carina. This is a testament of our commitment to education,” Dr.
Ferrer said.
PSUnians from the Research, Extension and Innovation (REI) Division shared PSU’s best practices that include Extension Director Dr. Armando Junio, Mr. Bob Roaring for Research who represented Research Director Dr. Joseph Campit and Engr. Rex Basuel, head of the ASIN Center and Dean of the College of Engineering and Architecture of PSU-UC.
Consequently, Engr. Albertson D. Amante, BatStateU Vice President for Research, Development and Extension Services, introduced the delegation and discussed the Academic BRIDGING Program which stands for ‘Building Rapport and Institutional Development Goals through Inclusive Knowledge Generation’
“ This is a platform that aims to engage selected SUCs in the country through mentoring and capacity building, knowledge sharing and collaborative academic activities towards excellence and sustainability,” said Engr. Amante.
Batangas SU, touted as the National Engineering University, also wishes to improve the quality of engineering education and other programs in the country and enhance its responsiveness to industry needs, sustainable development goals and emerging engineering programs, he added.
Engr. Amante further explained that the BRIDGING program employs five phases that include: study visits and needs assessment; implementation of proposed intervention; structural reform operationalization; academic bridging forum ; and monitoring and evaluation.
An open forum ensued where the delegates were grouped according to their specializations and given a chance to discuss their program’s best practices among the PSU representatives who were assigned to them.
The visit concluded with a response from Dr. Amado Gequinto, Chancellor of Batangas State University-Malvar Campus and a closing message from Dr. Randy Joy Ventayen, PSU Director for International Accreditation.
Meanwhile, 𝗣𝗦𝗨 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗗𝗿. 𝗘𝗹𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘁 𝗠. 𝗚𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘀 warmly welcomed 𝗕𝗮𝘁𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗨 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗔𝗦𝗨𝗖 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗗𝗿. 𝗧𝗶𝗿𝘀𝗼 𝗔. 𝗥𝗼𝗻𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗼 when the latter visited PSU’s main campus in Lingayen town on July 24.
