Advanced navigation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in today’s era highly contributes to innovation in the academe thus, the Pangasinan State University held its 2024 Faculty Development Seminar anchored on the theme ‘𝑨𝒓𝒕𝒊𝒇𝒊𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒍 𝑰𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒈𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑨𝒄𝒂𝒅𝒆𝒎𝒆: 𝑨 𝑹𝒆𝒔𝒑𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑮𝒍𝒐𝒃𝒂𝒍 𝑬𝒅𝒖𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝑨𝒅𝒗𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕’ on August 13, 2024.
Spearheaded by the PSU Divisions, Office of the Vice President for Academic and Student Services headed by Dr. Manolito C. Manuel, and the Office of the Vice President for Administration and Finance Management headed by Dr. Jenylyn V. Oboza, the event helped PSU Faculty members to discover the role of AI in academe.
“𝐴𝐼 𝑖𝑠 𝑟𝑎𝑝𝑖𝑑𝑙𝑦 𝑏𝑒𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑎 𝑝𝑜𝑤𝑒𝑟𝑓𝑢𝑙 𝑡𝑜𝑜𝑙 𝑡𝑜 𝑟𝑒𝑣𝑜𝑙𝑢𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛𝑖𝑧𝑒 𝑒𝑑𝑢𝑐𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛. 𝐴𝑠 𝑤𝑒 𝑒𝑚𝑏𝑟𝑎𝑐𝑒 𝑖𝑡, 𝑤𝑒 𝑚𝑢𝑠𝑡 𝑎𝑙𝑠𝑜 𝑟𝑒𝑚𝑎𝑖𝑛 𝑣𝑖𝑔𝑖𝑙𝑎𝑛𝑡 𝑎𝑏𝑜𝑢𝑡 𝑒𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑐𝑎𝑙 𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑠𝑖𝑑𝑒𝑟𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛𝑠. Moreover, VP Oboza shared that as educators, there is a need to approach this advancement with a mindset of stewardship, ensuring that AI is leveraged ethically and inclusively.
The said seminar brought together exemplars in the academe who served as resource speakers, Asst. Vice President for Research and Development of National University, 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐫 𝐃𝐫. 𝐉𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐞 𝐒. 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐭, Vice President for Academic Affairs of Saint Louis University, 𝐃𝐫. 𝐅𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐚 𝐏. 𝐄𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐪𝐮𝐞 and Associate College Dean of the Faculty of General Education and Experiential Learning of Philippine Normal University, 𝐃𝐫. 𝐃𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐲𝐥 𝐑𝐨𝐲 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐛𝐨𝐧.
Dr. Barrot enlightened the attendees on his topic, Integration of Artificial Intelligence in Teaching, while Dr. Espique heightened the Development of Instructional Materials among PSU academic personnel. Dr. Montebon covered a wide discussion on Proper Utilization of Formative Assessment and Use of Proper Teaching Methods and Strategies in the afternoon.
PSU University officials, Ms. Shiela Marie G. Malicdem, Dr. Jessica J. Jimenez, Dr. Juan Primitivo Petrola, Dr. Weenalie T. Fajardo, Campus official, Dr. Renato E. Salcedo faculty members of the nine campuses attended the said seminar at the Dr. Telesforo N. Boquiren Covention Hall. Other PSU personnel attended through the ZOOM platform.
