The Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) hosted the 38th Annual National Conference and General Assembly on March 5-7, 2025, gathering the top management of higher education institutions from the 17 regions of the country.

Bannering the theme: ‘Elevate, Empower and Expand Quality Assurance in Higher Education,” the three-day event, hosted by Marikina Polytechnic College, aims to raise the standards of QA in higher education, utilizing innovative strategies and best practices.

AACCUP Executive Director Dr. Milabel Enriquez-Ho said the event also aims to empower educators, administrators and QA professionals with the knowledge, competencies, attitude and values needed to implement QA processes as well as expand the QA practices by strengthening collaboration and sharing of experiences among partners in higher education globally.

Donning ASEAN-inspired attire, the Pangasinan State University delegation led by University President Dr. Elbert Galas joined the processional of HEIs from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. President Galas was accompanied by PSU Vice-Presidents, Campus Executive Directors, Executive Secretary and Director for Curriculum and Instruction.

“The National Conference of AACCUP is always an event to look forward to. It provides an opportunity and avenue for continuous growth towards a more effective and efficient service delivery. PSU’s participation is essential in the promotion of institutional collaborations and strengthening partnerships with fellow HEIs locally and globally,” President Galas said.

Consequently, the main event had a keynote speech by Prof. Dato Dr.Mohammad Shatar Sabran, the chief executive officer of the Malaysian Qualifications Agency in Malaysia; a General Assembly that highlighted the President’s report and the Treasurer’s report plus the election of the new AACCUP Board of Trustees.

Adding more excitement and exchange of knowledge were Plenary Sessions that include Building Strong Partnerships for Quality Assurance and the PASUC Presidents Time where Dr. Tirso Ronquillo presented the challenges and opportunities for SUCs;

For the second day, plenary session 3 centered on achieving QA milestone through collaboration while plenary 4 provided inputs on the advancements in adaptive learning technologies; and plenary 5 dealt on the updates on AACCUP accreditation systems and processes.

For the last day, Plenary 6 engaged the stakeholders in QA initiatives and techniques for active participation and leveraging feedback for continuous improvement.

Ending the event with a bang is the awarding ceremony for top performing SUCs and the launching of the Manuel T. Corpus QA Champion Award . The award was established by the AACCUP in honor of its founder to promote quality assurance in public higher education and recognize SUCs that have implemented successful quality management system.

The award is AACCUP’s higher honor for performance excellence.
