The Pangasinan State University (PSU), through its Office of the Vice President for Local and International Affairs – Continuing Professional Development (OVPLIA-CPD) unit, successfully hosted a Capacity Building Seminar for its coordinators on February 28, 2025, at Ylang Ylang Hall, Conference Room, Golden Lion Hotel.
The initiative aimed to enhance the skills and competencies of CPD coordinators across PSU’s nine campuses, ensuring the effective management and implementation of professional development programs. Attendees actively participated in discussions, sharing best practices and innovative strategies.
Serving as the keynote speaker, Dr. Ethel Reyes-Chua led the seminar, engaging participants in dynamic group activities and an interactive Q&A session, reinforcing their commitment to enhancing professional development practices.
A key moment of the event was the launch of the book Mastering CPD: Strategies for Professional Development and Excellence, authored by Dr. Reyes-Chua and Ms. Vladimir Marie E. Cabutotan, co-authored by CPD coordinators: Ms. Jennifer Benitez, Mr. Romel Vingua, Engr. Romeo Ancheta, Mr. Jelson Ugalde, Mr. Genesis Padilla, Ms. Geramae Elaine Elguira, Mr. Jeferson Austria, Ms. Jessica James Paiso, Ms. Jovelyn Barrera, and Ms. Princess Pearl Castano. The book, edited by Asst. Prof. Venus May Hortaleza-Sarmiento, served as a vital reference throughout the seminar.
The successful conduct of the event was attributed to the strong leadership and support of University President Dr. Elbert M. Galas, Vice President for Local and International Affairs Dr. Ian D. Evangelista, and CPD Director Ms. Vladimir Marie E. Cabutotan, whose collective efforts ensured a productive and impactful seminar.
