Astonishing places in Ilocos Sur and La Union provinces became the recent destination of PRIME campers during the fourth day of the week-long international event, July 3, 2025.
The La Union and Ilocos Sur Cultural and Heritage Tour gave the campers a firsthand experience of the rich and majestic history of the communities in the provinces of Region 1.
The Pangasinan State University, led by its President, Dr. Elbert M. Galas, braved its first international program to promote and explore the Philippines’ regional identity and to engage in meaningful cross-cultural dialogue through immersive cultural experiences and heritage tours.
True enough, the first stop of the visit was at a grape farm and the loom weaving site in the province of La Union. The campers had a firsthand experience of grape growing and even witnessed the traditional weaving process practiced by the communities of La Union.
Heading north, the group visited Vigan City. The Ilocos Sur tour featured captivating experiences at Vigan Museum, and the Vigan Heritage Village-Calle Crisologo.
“We came here to not only have the experience but also to appreciate the artists’ dedication. It is an impressive experience,” one of the Prime campers, Hang Le from Vietnam shared.
The PSU-OVPLIA, led by Vice President Dr. Ian D. Evangelista, takes pride in this endeavor of bringing not only the university but also the entire Region 1 to the international arena.
