Pangasinan State University welcomed ten students and three faculty members of Batangas State University (BatStateU) for the week-long Student Acceleration Mobility Program (STAMP) activity from September 1- 6, 2025 for the first phase of the exchange.

The STAMP outlines short-term local students’ mobility initiative spearheaded by the BatStateU as part of its strategic thrust to enhance student development through academic immersion and cultural exchange.

With this initiative, BatStateU deployed a delegation composed of five BS Hospitality Management students and another five for BS Tourism Management. They were accompanied by core faculty member Juan Carlos Mendoza (BSH), Department Chairperson Dr. Marithel Tiangco (BSTM/BSHM) and the Head of External Affairs Ms. Maria Mariel Perea.

In the opening program held at the DTNB Convention Hall in Lingayen on September 1, University President Dr. Elbert M. Galas said the meaningful convergence of the two institutions allows the students to experience new learning environment and build meaningful connections.

“Through the exchanges, we nurture not only academics competencies but also cultural intelligence, adaptability and leadership qualities that will serve our students in an increasingly interconnected world. The program also underscores our institutional commitment to prepare globally competent graduates while harnessing the richness of our local and regional identity,” President Galas said.

PSU as a partner host institution will facilitate a range of academic, leadership and cultural activities during the weeklong visit with events led by the Office of the Vice President for Local and International Affairs (OVPLIA) in partnership with the Campuses of Lingayen, San Carlos City and Alaminos City.

“This gathering is a journey that invites each of you to see the world not as a map of limits but a universe of possibilities. Over the next five days, you will learn not only from experts and industry leaders but also from one another. You will be challenged to think differently, to act boldly and to reimagine the role of education in solving real-world problems. This is the heartbeat of STAMP: preparing leaders who do not simply wait for the future to unfold but who create it with courage and vision,” Vice President Ian Evangelista said in his message delivered by International Relations Director Leizel del Castillo.

Incidentally, officials of the BatStateU led by Chancellor Dr. Enrico Dalangin also attended the STAMP event where a ceremonial Memorandum of Agreement signing took place, prior to a BRIDGE and benchmarking activity (see separate story) in the afternoon.

Vice Presidents Dr. Rosario Valencerina (OVPAFM), Dr. Celeste Mercado (OVPQA), Dr. Weenalei Fajardo (OVPASS) and Dr, Razeale Resultay (OVPREI) along with Campus Executive Directors: Dr. Renato Salcedo (Lingayen), Dr. Liza Quimson (San Carlos City) and Dr, Joseph Campit (Alaminos City) with university and campus officials and students gave their full support to the program.

A second phase of the STAMP program will occur in October 2025 where PSU will send its own delegation to Batangas State U for a similar immersive experience.
