Two established academic institutions in the North convened for a meeting of minds held at the Audio-Visual Room of Pangasinan State University, Lingayen Campus on December 6.
The Pangasinan State University hosted the benchmarking activity participated in by the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University – Sericulture Research and Development Institute (SRDI) on the best practices related to Quality Assurance and Research Development.
PSU officials led by Dr. Marcelo C. Gutierrez, Jr., Vice President for Quality Assurance, welcomed the thirty (30) SRDI delegates from the province of La Union.
“We are always happy to welcome institutions for benchmarking activities because we share the same desire which is to bring tertiary education to excellence,” Dr. Gutierrez said.
University officials namely Director John Quinto of the Supply Management Office, University Document Control Custodian Shiela Marie Malicdem and Director David Livingstone Ramos shared the PSU experiences in the journey towards the attainment of the Philippine Quality Award Level III for Mastery in Quality Management.
Areas concerning teaching-load management, incentives and benefits among employees, performance management and resource generation were discussed in the open forum.
The Director for Research and Development Office Dr. Larry A. Santos, partook in the sharing of best practices in the sector of research and community development particularly the benefits and supports given by the University to the researchers and processes related to community extension programs in conducting research.
In response, DMMMSU-SRDI Executive Director Dr. Cristeta F. Gapuz. thanked the PSU administration for hosting the activity which is deemed helpful in their quest for quality assurance accreditation in the future.
“Maraming-maraming salamat po sa pag-share ng inyong best practices. Malaking tulong po ito sa amin, na aming dadalhin pabalik upang kami naman po ay magkaroon ng status na tulad ng PSU sa Quality Assurance Unit,” Dr. Gapuz said.
Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University – SRDI delegates also took the opportunity to visit the newly constructed state-of-the-art Golden Lion Hotel and explored different amenities the hotel offers. They were met by PSU’s sixth President, Dr. Dexter R. Buted together with Lingayen Mayor Leopoldo N. Bataoil
The Pangasinan State University, known for its accomplishment in meeting quality standards, welcomes institutions for the sharing of best practices in different units for the improvement and sustainability of quality service and excellent education.
