Pangasinan State University-Infanta Campus’ (PSU-IC), students, faculty and staff participated in the drug prevention, April 12, 2023 at campus gym with a theme, “Life Doesn’t Rewind; Stand Against Drug Abuse,” which aimed to equip participants knowledge and awareness on illegal drugs.
The program was formally started by PSU-IC’s Campus Executive Director, Dr.Elmer C. Vingua, who gave his opening remarks. Pastor Victorino Martinez formally started the discussion on the topic “KASIMBAYANAN”- a partnership of the police force, church and the community in combatting illegal drugs. This was followed by Police Corporal Anthony Mores from PNP-INFANTA, one of the keynote speakers who discussed and highlighted RA 9165: Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002.
Also included in the seminar were various topics such as the RA 11313:The Safe Spaces Act or Anti Bastos Law which was discussed by Police Master Senior Sergeant Dulcie Mejos; and Gender and Development which was discussed by Police Master Senior Sergeant Josephine Fernandez.
An open-forum was also held after all the speakers had presented their topics. Students also actively participated in the activity facilitated by one of the speakers after the lectures.
The seminar truly helped the students to widen their knowledge not only about the effects of abusive intake of illegal drugs but also the different topics shared by competent speakers in the seminar.
This seminar was led by Sir Joshua Maru J. De Guzman, Sports and NSTP Coordinator, with the guidance of Prof. Procerfina D. VIngua, Student Services Coordinator.
