Pangasinan State University engaged its university personnel under the Administration and Finance Management Diviision on a training workshop on the implementation of automated system for PSU financial operations.
The event slated for three days, July 29-31, 2024, was participated in by the university cashier, university accountant, bookkeepers and accounting staff, and campus cashiers and accountants of the nine campuses held at the Main Campus.
𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐃𝐫. 𝐄𝐥𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐭 𝐌. 𝐆𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐬 said that he acknowledges the challenges being experienced by the finance department personnel in their everyday operation and their big role in the university.

𝐼 𝑎𝑚 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ 𝑦𝑜𝑢, 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑏𝑢𝑙𝑘 𝑜𝑓 𝑤𝑜𝑟𝑘, 𝑝𝑎𝑝𝑒𝑟𝑠 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑟𝑒𝑝𝑒𝑡𝑖𝑡𝑖𝑣𝑒 𝑡𝑎𝑠𝑘 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑓𝑎𝑐𝑒 𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑟𝑦𝑑𝑎𝑦. 𝐼𝑡’𝑠 𝑣𝑒𝑟𝑦 𝑑𝑖𝑓𝑓𝑖𝑐𝑢𝑙𝑡 𝑏𝑎𝑙𝑎𝑛𝑐𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑑𝑎𝑡𝑎 𝑏𝑢𝑡 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑎𝑙𝑤𝑎𝑦𝑠 𝑑𝑜 𝑖𝑡 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ 𝑒𝑎𝑠𝑒,” 𝐃𝐫. 𝐆𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐬 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐝.
The University President also said that he is more than excited in this endeavor and his full support in implementing innovation specially computerized systems or mechanism in PSU offices is truly in placed to lessen errors in the processes.
According to him, as a technology adept professional and administrator himself, with the computerized system, PSU can now access and store in-house analytics more easily. Dr. Galas added that in pursuit to his mission of innovating PSU into a smart university, personnel should not forget the five (5) Ms in management — money, manpower, machines, materials and methods.
Meanwhile, 𝐌𝐫. 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐌𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐚 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐄𝐝 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞, led in capacitating the participants on Enhanced Financial Reporting System (EFRS) which include workshop and walkthrough on the Generation of Financial Reports through EFRS in the said three-day event.
The Office of the Vice President for Administration and Finance Management headed by 𝐕𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐃𝐫. 𝐉𝐞𝐧𝐲𝐥𝐲𝐧 𝐕. 𝐎𝐛𝐨𝐳𝐚, stated that through the training workshop on the implementation of automated system for PSU financial operations, accounting, budgeting and cashiering processes were covered as a customized system for the university aligned with the standard processes per provision of the Government Accounting Manual (GAM).
“𝑊𝑖𝑡ℎ 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑠 𝑛𝑒𝑤 𝑠𝑦𝑠𝑡𝑒𝑚, 𝑝𝑙𝑒𝑎𝑠𝑒 𝑑𝑜 𝑛𝑜𝑡 𝑏𝑒 𝑎𝑓𝑟𝑎𝑖𝑑. 𝑊𝑒 𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑒𝑞𝑢𝑖𝑝𝑝𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑏𝑒𝑠𝑡 𝑡𝑜𝑜𝑙𝑠 𝑡𝑜 𝑑𝑜 𝑤ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑑𝑜,” 𝐃𝐫. 𝐎𝐛𝐨𝐳𝐚 𝐬𝐚𝐢𝐝.
𝐃𝐫. 𝐉𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐥𝐲𝐧 𝐋. 𝐕𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐞𝐯𝐚, 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐟 𝐀𝐝𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞, along with 𝐌𝐫. 𝐑𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐳, 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭, further emphasized that the said training workshop is not just about streamlined operations or cutting costs but also about enhancing accuracy, improving compliance and ultimately driving better decision making.
