Strengthening curriculum toward internationalization continues to be in the bloodline of the Commission on Higher Education as it pursued capacity building on internationalizing the teacher education curriculum.
Spearheaded by the CHED Regional Office-I in partnership with Pangasinan State University, the said capacity building took place at the PSU Golden Lion Hotel, October 23, 2025.
University President, Dr. Elbert M. Galas, shared the importance of tandem brought up by the Commission and the university in venturing toward internationalization mechanisms.
“If I may share, PSU’s quality assurance is the most benchmarked area in the university because we always keep things updated as the true core of innovation and sustainability for academic excellence,” President Galas said.
Meanwhile, Dr. Christine Nabor-Ferrer, CHED ROI Director IV, reiterated the significance of global readiness in higher education and lauded the shared commitment of the participants.
“Internationalization is not just a policy direction. It is a mindset, a calling, and a movement toward inclusive, quality, and globally responsive education,” Director Ferrer shared.
The participating Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Region I aimed to align their curricula with global standards and competencies, reinforcing the region’s commitment to globally responsive teacher education.
The Commission said that the first phase of the three-part program laid the groundwork by exploring frameworks and models to map global and intercultural competencies in teacher education curricula. The second phase will focus on mentoring and research, and the third will culminate in institutional action planning to develop sustainable strategies for TEIs in Region I.
