  5. PSU programs undergo AACCUP accreditatio...

Pangasinan State University, the Region’s premier university of choice, underwent another round of accreditation survey visit for its October 2023 Batch Programs.

The Bachelor in Industrial Technology (BIT) and Bachelor of Arts in Economics (BA ECON) programs of the Lingayen Campus was visited for its fourth (4th) Survey Phase 2 while the Bachelor of Physical Education of Bayambang Campus was subjected to Phase 1 (Revisit Area) of the fourth (4th) Survey being led by the Accredited Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities of the Philippines (AACCUP).

The three-day blended online activity commenced on October 4 at the Kalachuchi Hall of the Golden Lion Hotel and via the Zoom platform.

University President Dr. Elbert M. Galas, thanked the accreditors for sharing their time and expertise to help PSU continually achieve greater heights.

“Quality is the core of any organization to gain credibility from the local and international community. Accreditation process assures the community that university goals are appropriate and accomplished through viable educational programs. It aims to see how much the three programs have developed in terms of its service to the academic and larger community through its compliance with standards and excellence,’ Dr. Galas said.

University Vice-Presidents of PSU representing the five Divisions were present to give full support, to include: Dr. Manolito C. Manuel for Academic and Student Affairs; Dr. Razeale Resultay for Research, Extension, Innovation and Gender and Development (concurrent VP for Quality Assurance) and former President and now Vice-President for Administration and Linkages Dr. Dexter R. Buted (concurrent VP for Planning and Finance Management).

The virtual survey visit headed by the over-all coordinator Dr. Manuel A. Sanchez, Jr. of the Iloilo Science and Technology, commended the men and women of PSU for embracing accreditation in the quest for academic excellence.

“The primary purpose of this accreditation exercise is to evaluate your programs aiming for Level IV re-accredited status. But what exactly is a program recognized as Level IV status which is the highest level of quality that a program can achieve? CHED Memorandum No. 1 states that to earn that status, academic programs must be highly respected and of high quality. It has prestige and authority in the programs, Perfection is not attainable but if we chase perfection, we can catch excellence,” Dr. Sanchez said in his meesage.

Other AACCUP accreditors present were Dr. Edilberto Andal and Dr. Manuel Sanchez for the BIT program; the tandem of Dr. Jenny Beb Feraer-Espineli and Dr. Ariel Plantilla for BA ECON; and Dr. Gerolyn B. Javier for the BPED program.

The PSU local counterparts were committees from the two campuses headed by Lingayen Campus Executive Director Dr. Renato E. Salcedo and Bayambang Campus Executive Director Dr. Ian D. Evangelista.

Breakout sessions ensued after the opening ceremony to give the accreditors ample time to conduct an in-depth evaluation of the programs. Closing ceremony is scheduled on Friday, October 6.
