  5. PSU sets off the month of March dedicate...

Purple as the dominating color of the day, PSUnians convened for the kick-off ceremony of Women’s Month 2023 celebration on March 1.

The PSU officials led by University President Dr. Elbert M. Galas, actively joined in the program to support women empowerment and to acknowledge the effort and contribution of individuals, specifically women, in the society.

The ceremony themed as ‘We for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society,’ spearheaded by the Gender and Development (GAD) Office was held at the Sunflower Hall of the PSU Golden Lion Hotel.

“PSU is committed to building a culture of inclusivity and equality. Through this Women’s Month Celebration, we are hopeful that we shall normalize treating men and women equally, promoting gender equality, eliminating existing gender inequalities and re-defining women’s gender roles and relations when these pose constraints to achieving equitable outcomes,” Dr. Galas said.

Meanwhile, the Research Coordinator and GAD Focal Person Dr. Ethel Reyes-Chua, served as the Keynote Speaker whose talk centered on the significance of information technology in a culturally-diverse community to bring up fresh ideas that would eventually result to equality for all.

University officials that include the five Vice-Presidents also took part in the event to show support in the month-long celebration.

The Director for GAD Dr. Romary R. Lincod, welcomed all participants who were physically present in the venue and those who joined virtually through the ZOOM Platfom as she laid-out the activities for the entire month.

The Vice-President for REIGn Dr. Razealle G. Resultay and the Vice-President for Academic and Student Affairs Dr. Manolito C Manuel acknowledged the contribution of women and the association of women empowerment in their lives as they delivered a motivational message in the ‘HERstory & HISstory’ segments.

The Director for HRMDO Dr. Lorena B. Echalar and a faculty from PSU-San Carlos Campus Mr. Marjade P. Ferrer staged song performances. The Director for SAA Prof. Celeste T. Mercado also delivered a message.

As the event came to a close, the GAD-Peace theme song with a title ‘FREEDOM’ was displayed through an Audio-Visual presentation.
