Initiatives to upscale volunteerism efforts and determine what State Universities and Colleges can do to institutionalize volunteerism as a development strategy were some of the topics tackled during a collaborative meeting between the Pangasinan State University and the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA).
PNVSCA Executive Director Donald Gawe led his team, along with representatives from the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA), to discuss the promotion and harnessing of voluntary services and resources with PSU through relevant and responsive plans, policies, advocacies, technical assistance, and coordination.
“It is PNVSCA’s long-term vision to inculcate volunteerism as a way of life of every Filipino,” Gawe said during the exchange of ideas held at the PSU Boardroom on June 2.
The delegates were welcomed and joined by the University Vice-Presidents – Dr. Paulo V. Cenas for Research, Extension and Innovation; Dr. Corazon B. Puzon for Planning and Finance Management; Dr. Elbert M. Galas for Administration and Linkages; Dr. Manolito C. Manuel for Academic and Student Affairs; and Dr. Marcelo C. Gutierrez, Jr. for Quality Assurance, along with other university officials.
In his message, Dr. Cenas said he is delighted with the vision of advocating volunteerism in the academe and added that PSU has long been practicing volunteer work in its various endeavors.
“We are one with you in building hopes and improving lives”, the vice-president quipped.
Aiming for a self-reliant, empowered, and progressive society, PSU will always show support to other agencies by opening its doors for interactive learning, sharing of best practices, and management processes toward a better future.
