Pangasinan State University, through the Office of the Vice President of Research Extension, and Innovation opened its doors for Far Eastern University – Community Extension Services (FEU-CES) at the ASIN Center in Binmaley Campus on March 18, 2026 to share best practices, explore possible collaboration, and technological transfer.

The visit is part of FEU-CES initiative to strengthen salt production programs in their partner community in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro.

This activity was led by University President, Dr. Elbert M. Galas and the Dr. Razeale G. Resultay, Vice President for Research, Extension, and Innovation, who encouraged the sharing of expertise and resources in support of community extension and innovation initiatives.

The visit was attended by the ASIN Center Head, Engr. Rex Basuel, along with Center personnel, who facilitated the discussion, presentation of salt production technologies, and tour of the facilities.

Also present were REI Division Directors, including Research and Development Director, Dr. Rhowel M. Dellosa, Extension Services Director, Dr. Lorena B. Echalar, and Innovation Support Director, Engr. Jeff G. Perreyras, who expressed their support for inter-university collaboration and emphasized the importance of sharing research outputs, extension strategies, and innovation practices to benefit partner communities.

During the visit, the FEU team were oriented on the center’s ongoing projects, product innovations, and community-based extension programs related to salt production.

The exchange of ideas highlighted the role of state universities and colleges in promoting sustainable livelihood programs and strengthening local industries through research, extension, and innovation.

The activity concluded with a commitment from both institutions to continue exploring future partnerships that will contribute to community development, capacity building, and the advancement of the salt industry in the Philippines.

Through benchmarking initiatives, PSU continues to promote collaboration among higher education institutions while reinforcing its role as a leading state university in educational innovation.
