Providing platforms for Information Technology enthusiasts, the Pangasinan State University hosted this year’s CITEDH-R1 Regional Research Conference & IT Skills Competition (CRRCISC), April 12.

Participating schools in the said event were different academic institutions in Region 1.

Dubbed as ‘Emerging Trends Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency, Cybersecurity, and Data-driven Decision, making for Research Innovation’ a full-packed one-day event was held at Dr. Telesforo N. Boquiren Convention Hall, PSU-Lingayen Campus.

PSU President, Dr. Elbert M. Galas, as an IT expert himself, shared the need of adapting and shifting brought about by technology advancement in the society and even in the education sector.

“This systematic shift calls for students not only to participate in the creation of new knowledge but also to apply it in the real world by using the power of digital tools to do more than just schoolwork,” Dr. Galas said.

Dr. Galas also encouraged all attendees as he said, “Let us continue to use our imaginations, our creativity, and innovativeness and make research as a process of investigation aimed at finding solutions to problems, expanding knowledge, and advancing our understanding of the world as we develop new ideas, technologies, and innovations.”

The Council of Information Technology Education Deans And Heads (CITEDH) – Region I led by its President and Director for PSU-ICTMO, Dr. Julius Cesar O. Mamaril, spearheaded the said event.

“The role of technology in our lives is unattachable. Our goal now is to be adept and use it for the betterment of everyone,” Dr. Mamaril said.

The one-day event was composed of seminar sessions led by Dr. Melvin A. Ballera for Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and Data-driven Decision Making Expert; Lt. Col. Rodrigo F. Quinto for Ethical Hacking and Network Security; Ms. Janette Toral for e-commerce, social media and internet marketing, with a particular focus on Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency.

Also lined -up were IT events like the I.T Quiz Bee held at the Audio Visual Room; Web Development Competition at Techvoc Building; ML Tournament; and research presentations.
