Access to education is the foundation of AKKBAY’s mission. On July 1, 2022, PSU demonstrated this commitment through the Orientation for Marginalized Student-Applicants, held in collaboration with the Learning Development Center and the Admission and Guidance Services Unit.
This program was designed to guide aspiring students from underserved sectors—including members of 4Ps households, PWDs, ALS graduates, OSY, IPs, and solo parents—through the admissions process. By addressing their specific needs and challenges, the orientation aimed to increase their chances of gaining admission and succeeding in their chosen programs.
A Pathway to Success
The orientation featured practical and inspiring sessions led by dedicated PSU faculty:
• Admission and Enrollment Procedures:
Ms. Ashley Gayle T. Tuazon of PSU-Lingayen Campus provided a comprehensive overview of the steps required to become a PSUnian. This session demystified the process, making it accessible to all participants.
• PSU-CAT Test-Taking Tips and Strategies:
Ms. Analene V. de Guzman, Chairperson of the Professional Education Department, shared valuable strategies to help students perform their best during the college admission test. Her session was both informative and encouraging, instilling confidence in the participants.
• Tips for a Successful Admission Interview:
Mr. Gerald F. Pagodpod, Coordinator of the Center for Foreign Languages, offered practical advice on how to approach interviews with poise and preparation, further equipping students to navigate the admissions journey.
Voices of Gratitude
The orientation left a profound impact on its participants. For many, it was their first step toward a future they once thought was out of reach.
Maria, a solo parent, shared:
“I used to think college was impossible for someone like me. But through AKKBAY and this orientation, I felt like I had a chance—a real chance. Now, I believe in myself and my dreams again.”
Jonas, an OSY participant, reflected:
“I didn’t know where to start, but PSU showed me the way. This program gave me the guidance and confidence I needed to take that first step.”

AKKBAY’s Ripple Effect: Transforming Lives
Both the International Day of Persons with Disabilities celebration and the Orientation for Marginalized Student-Applicants are shining examples of AKKBAY’s mission in action. By focusing on marginalized students, PSU is not just providing access to education—it is empowering individuals to lead, inspire, and uplift their communities.
Through initiatives like these, AKKBAY is creating a ripple effect of empowerment that extends beyond the university. Marginalized students who once faced barriers to education are now becoming leaders and advocates for inclusion, proving that with the right support, every individual has the potential to make a difference.

Looking Ahead: Strengthening the Mission
As PSU continues to implement AKKBAY, the university is committed to expanding its reach and impact. Plans for Leadership Resource Centers on each campus will ensure that students have ongoing access to mentorship, training, and resources. These centers will serve as hubs of inspiration, fostering leadership and growth among marginalized students for generations to come.

Building a Future of Empowerment
Through AKKBAY: Advancing Knowledge and Keeping Bridges Accessible for Youth, Pangasinan State University is transforming lives and building a future of empowerment and inclusion. The International Day of Persons with Disabilities celebration and the Orientation for Marginalized Student-Applicants are testaments to PSU’s unwavering dedication to ensuring that every student, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to lead and succeed.
AKKBAY is more than a program—it is a movement that bridges gaps, uplifts voices, and creates a brighter, more inclusive future. With each life it touches, AKKBAY reminds us that leadership is not about where you come from; it is about where you are going and the bridges you build along the way.
