As the first educational institution in both the public and private sectors to receive the Philippine Quality Award (PQA) Level 3: Mastery in Quality Management, the Pangasinan State University (PSU) has remained committed to helping other institutions achieve quality excellence.
PSU welcomed the delegation from the University of Rizal System (URS) for a benchmarking activity aimed at learning about the university’s quality processes and best practices.
PSU President Dr. Elbert M. Galas said the university’s pursuit of quality does not stop at internal mechanisms but continues toward achieving global standards.
“We share a common goal of attaining excellence and quality as academic institutions. Awards such as the PQA validate that we are doing our best to realize our mission and vision,” President Galas said.
The activity was spearheaded by the Office of the Vice President for Quality Assurance (OVPQA), led by VP Celeste T. Mercado.
VP Mercado shared that the PQA journey is not an easy process, but through benchmarking activities, institutions can find hope and guidance in achieving similar recognition.
During the meeting, participants discussed topics such as the availability of software applications, consultations and other areas that may be considered in the PQA process.
Dr. Marvin P. Amoin, URS Vice President for Administration and Finance, expressed gratitude to PSU for its generosity and willingness to guide URS in its own PQA journey.
Also present during the benchmarking were Asst. Prof. William V. Cayetano, Dr. Julie D. Rosal, and PRIO Director Venus May H. Sarmiento, conducted virtually via ZOOM Platform.
