It’s a beautiful time of the year for the recipients of the KALAHI-CIDSS Cash-for-Work Program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), as they received their first payout on December 27, 2023, at Benigno Aldana Gym, PSU Bayambang Campus.
Among the 500 qualified beneficiaries are 49 Pangasinan State University San Carlos City Campus alumni, who expressed gratitude for the opportunity.
Sen. Imee Romualdez-Marcos initiated the Cash-for-Work program in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) through its Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan—Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS).
The program aims to provide cash support and short-term intervention through temporary employment for the alumni in exchange for immersing themselves in various tasks such as administrative roles and fieldwork in the different units.
Dr. Liza L. Quimson, Campus Executive Director, echoed her gratitude for the initiative, emphasizing its significant role in community empowerment and sustainability.
