Embarking on a journey of valor, about 1500 students of Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) Program gathered at the Sison Auditorium, Lingayen, Pangasinan for the Graduation ceremony on July 15.
Pangasinan State University President Dr. Elbert M. Galas said that through the ROTC program, students’ vital role in nation-building are recognized as they engage in public service and civic affairs.
“ROTC is one of the best leadership training courses at the University that essentially teaches practical life skills. It is able to develop discipline, build character, and hone potentials of every cadet. These include modesty and brilliance where unselfish service to others becomes paramount in becoming responsible citizens of the country,” Dr. Galas said in his inspirational speech.
After the ceremony for donning of ranks in the morning, ROTC cadets of Pangasinan State University – Alaminos, Bayambang, Binmaley, Lingayen, Infanta and San Carlos campuses together with the Philippine College of Science and Technology (PhilCST) under the 104th Community Defense Center of San Isidro Norte, Binmaley, Pangasinan marched for their graduation.
Meanwhile, BGEN. Jose Randolf M. Sino Cruz the Assistant Division Commander of 1st Infantry (Tabak) Divison who is also an alumnus of PSU, inspired the cadets being the Guest of Honor and Speaker.
“Never lose sight of your purpose. The sacrifices you make today will pave the way for a better tomorrow. The strength of our nation lies in heart and mind of courageous citizen of this country,” BGEN Sino Cruz said.
PSU Lingayen Campus Executive Director Dr. Renato E. Salcedo and other Campus representatives also joined in this momentous event.
