The celebration of National Women’s Month 2024 in the university doesn’t end in purple Fridays but through putting up activities initiating equality and women empowerment.
A Gender and Development (GAD) Art Exhibit in collaboration with DCTY Micro Gallery officially opened on March 8 situated at the lounge area of Audio-Visual Room, Lingayen Campus.
The said exhibit features established and emerging Pangasinan Women Artist as they showcase their masterpieces exploring themes of empowerment, resilience, and equality.
“The exhibit not only mirrors the artistic contributions of women but also sparks conversations about their role in society,” GAD Office posted.
University officials, campus coordinators and GAD advocates together with Dr. Romary R. Lincod, Director for GAD in Pangasinan State University led the ribbon cutting of the said exhibit in the morning.
The same day right after the exhibit was launched, a program entitled ‘Narratives: Women and Their Experience,’ was conducted at the AVR.
Ms. Alma B. Quinto and Dr. Ann Theresa Bolos, both artists and GAD advocates, shared their story. The event was also broadcasted via zoom and Facebook live.
Other upcoming events are lined up this month including ‘Musika ni Juana Songwriting Contest, March 22, campus level activities, purple podcasts slated on March 1, 8, 15, 22.
A closing ceremony of 2024 PSU’s Women’s Celebration is expected to be conducted on March 22 at the PSU Don Telesforo N. Boquiren Convention Hall of the main campus.
PSU President Dr. Elbert M. Galas, extends his greetings to every juanas and enthusiastically joins every GAD activity as he, himself, is a prime advocate towards gender equality and women empowerment.
