Pangasinan State University (PSU) successfully hosted the 2025 International Volunteer Day (IVD) National Celebration on December 5, 2025, gathering volunteers, partner agencies, development organizations, and academic leaders in a unified call to strengthen the spirit of volunteerism for national development. Anchored on the theme “Volunteerism for Inclusive Development: Empowering Communities Toward a Just and Resilient Future,” the event highlighted PSU’s leadership in promoting meaningful community engagement across local and international platforms.

The program formally opened with preliminaries, followed by an uplifting Welcome Message from PSU President Dr. Elbert M. Galas, who emphasized the University’s commitment as a recognized HEI Learning Hub on Volunteerism in Region I. Messages of support and inspiration were also delivered by representatives from United Nations Volunteers (UNV), the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA), the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), and other partner institutions. Their collective insights centered on the evolving role of volunteers in shaping resilient, empowered, and inclusive communities.

One of the highlights of the celebration was the Interactive Volunteerism Quiz, an engaging and energizing activity facilitated by PSU. Participants enthusiastically joined the quiz, demonstrating their understanding of volunteerism, community service, and global civic engagement. Prizes for the quiz involved a mobile load or e-wallet for the top four winners.

The program was hosted by Mr. Dustein Soriano, whose flexibility ensured a smooth flow of activities throughout the three-hour virtual celebration. The event registered 129 participants via Zoom, with additional participants reached through Facebook Live, allowing for broader public engagement and visibility.

The success of the 2025 IVD celebration reflects PSU’s steadfast dedication to advancing a culture of service and collaboration. The University extends its profound appreciation to all volunteers, speakers, partner agencies, institutional representatives, and participants who contributed to the meaningful and impactful observance of International Volunteer Day.
