EduHeart Publishing jubilantly launched four books and a newsmagazine authored and co-authored by faculty members of the Pangasinan State University, in collaboration with the academic institution’s Gender and Development Unit.
In a Book Launching ceremony on March 23 in Lingayen town, the fifth series of the ‘Fighters for Life: You Can, If You Will ‘ Book opened up on how people from diverse backgrounds dealt with different life circumstances by sharing their experiential journey and coping mechanisms.
“Together, the authors in this group produced a one-of-a-kind piece that captures their individual approaches to tackling life circumstances. All the topics were uplifting and encouraging and the paradigm will also provide guidance on maintaining the attributes necessary to fight for this life, “ Dr. Ethel Reyes-Chua, president of EduHeart, said.
Commander Edison ‘Bong’ Nebrija, formerly with the Philippine Navy and now the head of the Task Force Special Operations of Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), is the book’s main author who wrote about ‘Courage’.
Out of 19 chapter -authors for this book, 11 are teaching personnel of PSU and university officials. They are Dr. Honelly Mae Cascolan ( Flexibility), Dr. Cristie Marie Dalisay (Embracing Uniqueness) , Dr. Romary Lincod (Right Perspective), Dr. Joseph Campit (Right Attitude), Dr. Juan Primitivo Petrola (Professing Professionalism Professionally) , Dr. Fernando Viray, Jr. (Growth Mindset), Dr. Christian Thom Tabisola (Enthusiasm), Asst. Prof. Venus May Sarmiento (Taking Risks), Mr. Darwin Berungoy (Calming the Waves in Adversities), Dr. Arlene Mendoza (Equations of Endurance) and Dr. Jocelyn De Vera (Support).
One of the book’s editors, Dr. Ian Evangelista, PSU’s Vice President for Local and International Affairs, emphasized in his message that people have talents and all they need is a push.
“Sometimes we don’t need to find goal-based achievements. We will just be surprised that the opportunity will suddenly appear in front of us and our purpose in life is happening before our very eyes,” Dr. Evangelsita said.
It can be remembered that in 2022, University President Dr. Elbert M. Galas also co-authored Series 1 of the ‘Fighters for Life: Turning Challenges into Opportunities’. The book was a finalist in the 41st National Book Awards.
Other books launched in the ceremony include ’Environmental Disaster, Sanitation and Waste Management’ authored by Ms. Analyn Diola of PSU Asingan and the ‘Ergonomics and Facilities Planning for Hospitality Management’ written by Dr. Victor Bernal, dean of the College of Tourism and Hospitality Management of PSU Lingayen Campus . Additionally, a soft launch was attributed to Dr. Grace De Vera of Lingayen Campus for her book ‘Exploring the Strategies of Learner-Centered Education’
Meanwhile, Volume 1, issue 2 of the EduHeart Magazine with the theme ‘Women and Everyone for Gender Equality and Women Empowerment’ was also introduced in the occasion with PSU GAD Director Dr. Romary Lincod on the cover page and PSU women authors featured on the inside pages.
Also rejoicing in the book launch were Lingayen Mayor Leopoldo Bataoil who was represented by Vice Mayor Dexter Malicdem and guest author Commander Dennis Resuello of the Philippine Navy.
Book Consultant Dr. Ronald Borja said the books are periodically submitted to the National Library of the Philippines and he advised the authors to never stop writing and recording life’s experiences as these will become priceless legacy for coming generations.
