The Pangasinan State University, together with institutions fostering innovation, joined hands in co-hosting the first International Research and Innovation Conference on Education, Engineering, and Agriculture (IRICEEA) 2023.
The event, hosted by the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University, was held at the International Convention Center, DMMMSU-NLUC, Sapilang, Bacnotan, La Union from December 4-6.
Dubbed as ‘Strengthening Research and Innovation Ecosystem through Education, Engineering, and Agriculture Interface,’ the regional event brought together experts from the fields of education, engineering and agriculture to share their knowledge and experiences and discuss innovative ideas and solutions to current challenges.
The Ilocos Consortium of Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (ICIEERD) Region 1, one of the partner agencies, stated that the international conference focuses on the intersection of these three fields [Education, Engineering, and Agriculture] and explores how advancement of these disciplines can be integrated to achieve creative innovations, foresight and futures thinking that support the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
In the said three-day event, PSU was represented by the Vice President for Research, Extension, Innovation, and Gender and Development Dr. Razeale G. Resultay and other REI officials.
“We can see the importance of collaboration in events like this. PSU as one of the advocates of development, sustainability and innovation ensures full support in extending efforts beyond what is needed as interventions,” the Vice President said.
Dr. Elbert M. Galas, University President also said that in tracking its vision in becoming a premier industry-driven state university, programs like this led to more accessible excellent pursuits.
This year’s IRICEEA formed partnership among co-host agencies including DMMMSU (Philippines), Udon Thani Rajabhat University (Thailand), Van Lang University (Vietnam), Department of Science and Technology – Regional Office 1 (La Union), Ilocos Consortium of Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (La Union)[ ICIEERD – Region 1 ], University of Northern Philippines (Ilocos Sur), Pangasinan State University (Pangasinan), WCC Aeronautical and Technological College (Pangasinan), President Ramon Magsaysay State University (Zambales), Mountain Province State Polytechnic College (Mountain Province), University of Eastern Philippines (Northern Samar) and Central Mindanao University (Bukidnon).
