The Business Administration Department, in collaboration with the Early Childhood Education Department and in partnership with The Fraternal Order of Eagles-PH Eagles (NLRXIII), conducted a Livelihood Training Program as an extension project for the mothers of Barangay Bani, Bayambang, Pangasinan, on June 24, 2023 at Barangay Hall, Bani, Bayambang, Pangasinan.

As part of the initiative, participants will go through a number of training sessions designed to provide them with the skills and knowledge they need to start their own business as their source of income. In addition to imparting necessary knowledge in basic marketing, operations, and pricing strategies, the training also covers production of dishwashing liquid, corn coffee, alcohol, and hand sanitizer. The project’s first training session covers how to create scented dishwashing liquid, the seven Ps of marketing, basic costing and pricing strategies.

The program started with preliminaries and recitation of the PSU vision, mission and quality policy by Engr. Grace Maligalig, BSBA faculty member. Dr. Lovejoy Caerlang, campus extension services coordinator and ECED faculty member gave her welcome remarks to formally open the activity. She also delivers the message of Mr. Sebastian Acosta, governor of TFOE-PE (NLRXIII). BSBA Club officers and members of TFOE-PE assisted and facilitated the trainings.

Dr. Roseanne Jane Agustin-Cera, BSBA Chairperson and the project leader, stated the purpose of the extension project for the participants to understand and be aware of the training program. Mr. Fernando Ramirez, barangay Bani council member, also gave his message on behalf of Mr. Rodelito Bautista, barangay captain.

Dr. Nerinessa Santiago, BSBA faculty member, discussed basic product costing as well as good pricing strategies and practices to make their business profitable and successful. On the other hand, Mr. Jonathan Sabangan, BSBA 4th year student and intern, discussed the basic marketing strategies, specifically the 7 Ps of marketing and its functions.

The highlight of the livelihood program was the hands-on training of how to make scented dishwashing liquid discussed and demonstrated by Dr. Roseanne Jane AgustinCera. The participants learned about the various ingredients required and they observe and understand the step-by-step process of making dishwashing liquid. Dr. Agustin-Cera emphasized the importance of safety precautions and proper handling of chemicals.

Dr. Gudelia Samson, dean of CAST, delivered the program’s closing address. She emphasized the importance of the participants’ commitment to completing the training program and assured them that PSU will support them until they achieved a profitable business.

Participants enthusiastically participated in the hands-on demonstration and enjoyed the snacks prepared and provided by the BSBA, ECED, and TFOE-PE. After completing the entire program, participants who took part in the aforementioned training will receive certificates. They are grateful of the new learnings they may use to support themselves in their community. 10 mothers participated in the activity, and Mr. Timothy Joshua Ventayen presided as the program emcee.
