The event aims to increase awareness on mental health, encourage self-care, and provide helpful stress-reduction advice.
In line with this, the Pangasinan State University, through the Office of Student and Alumni Affairs headed by Prof. Celeste T. Mercado, gave full support to the Mental Health Program in the conduct of the National Mental Health Week Caravan administered at the PSU audio-visual room.
The activity commenced with an opening remarks by Ms. Marinuelle T. Aquino, Head of the Admission and Guidance Services Unit.
This was followed by a talk on mental health, stress and depression shared by Health Program Officer II of the Mental Health DOH CHD I Mr. I.G. Harlika Langit.
This was followed by a short talk from Ms. Ena Rika A. Gumangan, another Health Program Officer II of the Mental Health DOH CHD I, concerning anxiety, suicide, and self-care tips.
On the other hand, Mr. Marvin Perez, the Mental Health Program Manager from the Provincial Health Office, took part in promoting the provincial initiatives for mental health. Mr. Perez let the people know of the hotline for ‘usap tayo’, a regular tweet chat that aims for zero suicide cases and stigma against mental health.
The National Mental Health Week Caravan was then highlighted by the awarding of the Vlog Making Contest.
Concluding the event was a closing message from Mr. Cornel Dela Cruz of the Provincial DOH Office.
Pangasinan State University, with full support from the visionary president Dr. Dexter R. Buted, believes that individuals can perform and possess intelligence and skill if they are strong in mind and in health.
