More than the music of graduation march song, resounding cheers of success, gratitude and fulfilment filled the CSI Stadia in Dagupan City as the graduation ceremony for Batch 2023 of Pangasinan State University (PSU) commenced today, August 29.
Hailing from PSU campuses of Urdaneta City, Sta. Maria, Asingan and Binmaley, which comprised Cluster A, a total of 1,582 graduates marched and officially received their respective degrees in the morning event.
As embodied on the theme for PSU’s 44th Commencement Exercises ‘Mapagmalasakit at Responsableng PSUnians: Kabalikat sa Mas Matatag na Lipunan’, University President Dr. Elbert M. Galas, salutes the graduates for their resilience towards achieving their goals and their presence today serves as a testament of this resiliency.
“Pagsikapan ninyong ialay ang bawat tagumpay na inyong makakamit sa inyong pamilya at higit sa lahat para sa bayan. Umaasa akong iaalay ninyo ang natamo ninyong edukasyon, para sa isang dakilang hangarin. Ngayong kayo ay may hawak na degri, hinikikayat ko kayong tuparin and pananagutan ng inyong napiling propesyon,” President Galas added.
Dr. Galas also highlighted that a graduation marks not only the end of students’ journey but a moment to look back on the hard work and priceless efforts of every PSUnian in their stay in the University.
The Cluster’s Guest of Honor and Speaker, Sec. Conrado M. Estrella III of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) was represented by the Municipal Mayor of Rosales, Pangasinan William S. Cezar where he encouraged the graduates to be not forgetful of the value of compassion while promoting humility and service to others.
“Hinihiling ko pong kayo’y makipagmalasakit at maging responsableng tagapagtaguyod ng pag-asa at pagbabago sa ating lipunan. May all these acquired knowledge and experiences hone you to become the best version of who you are and be your anchor as you face another chapter in life,” Mayor Cezar added.
Graduates in Cluster A has a breakdown of 432 from Urdaneta City campus, 370 from Sta. Maria, 440 from Asingan, and 340 from Binmaley. An afternoon program for Cluster B, PSU Lingayen Campus follows.
The country’s First Lady Marie Louise “Liza” Araneta Marcos and Sen. Francis Joseph “Chiz” Guevara Escudero also imparted their congratulatory messages to the graduates through a video message.
Joining the celebration of excellence were the three Vice Presidents of the University: Dr. Manolito C. Manuel for Academic and Student Affairs, Dr. Razeale G. Resultay for Research, Extension, Innovation and Gender and Development, and the sixth PSU President Dr. Dexter R. Buted as VP for Administration and Linkages.
The Board of Regents, nine Campus Executive Directors of PSU, other University Officials and faculty staff also took part in the said event.
