A meeting of minds, benchmarking activity, was held as the West Visayas State University (WVSU) benchmarked Pangasinan State University’s quality mechanisms.
The WVSU tapped into PSU’s processes, mechanisms and document preparation as part of the visiting institution’s quest for Philippine Quality Award (PQA).
PSU President, Dr. Elbert M. Galas, one of the champions engaged during the PQA time, said that one of the secrets of the university was to faithfully follow the timetable and meticulously monitor each progress.
“The university has been practicing systematic operations long before the award and I think this gives the university an advantage in the preparation, during the visit and much more after being accorded of Philippine Quality Award,” the university president said.
Dr. Celeste T. Mercado, Vice President for Quality Assurance, attended the benchmarking program and led the discussions of PSU practices along with Asst. Prof. William V. Cayetano, Director for local accreditation.
WVSU delegation led by its Quality Assurance Director, Dr. Elizabeth A. Magallanes, inquired on policies related to the involvement of the personnel, tasking, crucial areas to consider and possible interventions to be made.
A tour around the Student Center building, Public Relations and Information Office, Student and Alumni Affairs office, and PSU Golden Lion Hotel were also conducted after the program. Present were directors Ms. Venus May H. Sarmiento (PRIO), Ms. Marienuelle T. Aquino (SAA), and SAA Dean of PSU Lingayen, Dr. Rhegina F. Tubera.
