Pangasinan State University (PSU) proudly commenced its Ika-46 na Pangkalahatang Pagtatapos with the theme “PSUnian na may Glokal na Kahusayan at Kahandaan para sa Industriya: Tulay sa Pandaigdigang Ugnayan at Kabalikat sa Bagong Pilipinas” on August 14, 2025 at the CSI Stadia, Lucao, Dagupan City.
The event served as a significant milestone for the first cluster of graduates composed of 1,803 PSUnians from the Campuses of Asingan, Infanta, and San Carlos City. The graduates were presented by Campus Executive Directors, Dr. Madlyn D. Tingco (Asingan), Dr. Joseph B. Campit (Infanta), and Dr. Liza L. Quimson (San Carlos City), endorsed by OIC- Vice President for Alumni and Student Services Dr. Weenalei T. Fajardo, and finally conferred by University President Dr. Elbert M. Galas.
University officials, faculty members, administrators and distinguished guests and families gathered to witness the conferment of degrees, as the graduates took their first steps toward professional life under the guiding values of excellence, service and integrity.
Dr. Galas graced the ceremony and delivered an inspiring congratulatory address to the graduates.
“Ang inyong diploma ay magsisilbing tuntungang bato sa inyong pagtuklas sa mas malawak na mundo kung saan lalo ninyong makikilala ang inyong mga sarili, maging ang inyong kahinaan at kalakasan. Umaasa ako na naihanda kayo ng pamantasan na harapin ang pabago-bagong mundo at magiging daan ito upang kayo ay makapag-ambag ng mabubuting gawa sa lipunan sa maraming paraan… Patuloy na mangarap at magpakabuti para sa isang Bagong Pilipinas na mainam panahanan,” Dr. Galas emphasized.
Provincial Governor Hon. Ramon V. Guico III of the Provincial Government of Pangasinan supported the event and was represented by Pres. Raymundo Rovillos of the Pangasinan Polytechnic College.
In his speech, he firmly expressed his utmost dedication to the education-for-all advocacy of the University in partnership with the government as he states, “Naniniwala siya na ang edukasyon ang unang hakbang tungo sa mas maunlad na probinsya, kaya’t hangad niya na mas malawak at abot-kamay ang pagbibigay-serbisyo sa pamamagitan ng libreng edukasyon”
In line with the graduation theme, the ceremony focused on the University ’s commitment to producing “glokal” graduates, as highlighted by the guest of honor and speaker Hon. Desiderio R. Apag III, Commissioner, Commision on Higher Education.
“When you graduate from PSU, you carry a heritage of excellence that merges local service with global readiness. You are not just graduates, you are ambassadors of a university whose legacy is deeply rooted in Pangasinan, yet whose reach and relevance extend far beyond our shores. This is precisely the identity of a PSUnian na may glokal na kahusayan at kahandaan para sa industriya, ready to lead at home, ready to compete in the world, and ready to be a bridge between the two”, said Hon. Apag.”
Leading for the roster of latin honors in this cluster was Ms. Michaella Marie A. Mamaril from Asingan Campus under the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Financial Management. As the Magna Cum Laude with the highest grade, she was privileged to convey the baccalaureate speech.
“Ang araw na ito ay hindi lamang pagdiriwang ng ating pagtatapos,ngunit pagdiriwang din ng katatagan, determinasyon, at tapang na magpatuloy sa gitna ng pandemya… Nagsimula sa panahon ng takot at pangamba, ngunt magtatapos nang may dangal, may pag-asa, at may panibagong simula, ” said Ms. Mamaril.
The initial cluster of ceremonies proves the strength beyond diversity of PSU’s academic programs, with graduates from various Campuses proudly donning their abarays.
