Pangasinan State University’s unceasing pursuits to innovation received support from DOST- Philippine Textile Research Institute (PTRI).
As the university houses various innovation centers in the province and in the national level, the BTFIH or Bamboo Textile Fiber Innovation Hub received support from the Department of Science and Technology to pursue its operation and trajectories.
The national agency turned over equipment such as Lot Bamboo Fiber Extraction Machine, Lot Bamboo Slatting Machine and a generator, in response to the Bamboo Textile Fiber Innovation Hub (BTFIH) initiated by the university, November 6, 2024.
PSU President Dr. Elbert M. Galas, represented by the Vice President for Research, Extension and Innovation (REI), Dr. Razeale G. Resultay, along with the Campus Coordinator for International Relations of PSU Lingayen, Dr. Caren Ventayen representing CED Dr. Renato E. Salcedo, personally received the equipment at the west campus of PSU Lingayen.
It can be remembered that Dr. Galas, DOST-PTRI Director Julius L. Leaño, Jr. and DOST Regional Director Teresita A. Tabaog, entered into a memorandum of agreement signing to support the said project on July 4, 2024.
In stipulation, BTFIH will open livelihood opportunities to the local farmers through the valorization of bamboo into a textile material.
