Holiday season is now truly felt across the vicinities of Pangasinan State University campuses as Christmas trees were lit up simultaneously on December 3, 2025.
The event, tagged as the University-wide Symbolic Illumination Ceremony, marked a historic moment for PSU as campuses came together to join the celebration through a simulcast lighting on their respective campus grounds, highlighted by the 10 -meter-tall Christmas tree in the main campus.
PSU President, Dr. Elbert M. Galas, graced the occasion telling PSUnians the importance of united effort to a meaningful service to community and stakeholders.
“Every year, this anticipated event becomes more meaningful not only because of the good news brought by material blessings, but because we know deep down that we have gone beyond what is expected. That is what it means to be a true PSUnian: resilient, hopeful, and excellent,” President Galas said.
This year’s theme, “Lingawen: Look Up, Rise Up – Lighting the Way to Recovery and Sustainability,” is anchored on the resilience of Filipinos, specifically PSUnians, after the onslaught of the recent typhoon “Uwan,” and also reflects the spirit of hope that is innate to PSU in its pursuit of better recovery and sustained excellence.
Vice President for Administration and Finance Management, Dr. Jeanilyn L. Villanueva, that the said event is a declaration that PSU stands as a guiding light for recovery and sustainability.
University Officials, Vice Presidents Dr. Razeale G. Resultay, Celeste T. Mercado, Dr. Ian D. Evangelista, Dr. Weenalei T. Fajardo joined the celebration at the main office. Members of the Board of Regents Dir. Teresita A. Tabaog, DOST RO1 Regional Director, Hon. Ace John Mark P. Liwanag, Faculty Regent, and Hon. Charry Ann May C. Santos, Student Regent, also attended the said event.
PSU campuses joined the celebration through the Zoom platform for the real-time broadcast as they also conduct their own ceremony led by each Campus Executive Director. Lingayen CED, Dr. Marie Claire B. Briones gave a closing message at the main office.
Meanwhile, PSU Main Office along PSU Lingayen Campus held the celebration at the entrance ground of the legacy building and as part of the tradition, PSUnians enjoyed free food such as iced coffee, rice cakes, ice cream, popcorn and other finger food.
