The living mantra of academic excellence was once again manifested through initiatives aimed at learning from PSU’s quality practices.
Pangasinan State University, led by University President Dr. Elbert M. Galas, welcomed the delegation of Mindoro State University for a benchmarking activity on August 26, 2025.
The MinSU team benchmarked quality assurance processes focusing on ISO essentials and mechanisms implemented across PSU’s academic programs.
President Galas personally welcomed the delegates and actively joined the discussion. PEMG provided a comprehensive walkthrough of PSU’s transformation from an emerging institution to its present status.
“PSU has come a long way from its former state because of the quality mechanisms embedded in our daily operations. As we share best practices with other agencies, we also extend our shared commitment to providing quality education along with other HEIs,” Dr. Galas said.
He also recognized the contributions of former President Dexter R. Buted, whom he described as the man who was instrumental in ushering PSU’s transformative era, while affirming the current administration’s efforts toward becoming an industry-driven premier university in the ASEAN region.
Dr. Randy Joy M. Ventayen, director for International Accreditation, led the presentation of the Educational Organization Managemenr System (EOMS) for the Office of the Vice President for Quality Assurance headed by VP Celeste T. Mercado. Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) and Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd) programs of PSU Bayambang, and the Bachelor of Technical-Vocational Teacher Education (BTVTEd) and
Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education (BTLEd) for Lingayen Campus were part of the visit.
“Dr. Galas spoke of PSU’s achievements with great humility, but in truth, these accolades are something to be proud of. We are grateful, for we have learned a lot,” said Mr. Leonel C. Mendoza, OIC Vice President and head of the MinSU delegates.
The MinSU delegation was also warmly received by Campus Executive Directors Dr. Renato E. Salcedo (PSU Lingayen) and Dr. Gudelia M. Samson (PSU Bayambang), together with their respective college deans, program chairs, and faculty.
A campus tour concluded the benchmarking program held at the Dr. Telesforo N. Boquiren Convention Hall, Main Campus.
