  5. New set of FSG Officers take oath

The new set of officers of the Federated Student Government (FSG) for Academic Year 2024-2025 formally took their oath of office before University President Dr. Elbert M. Galas on Friday, November 22.

President Galas congratulated the 15 officers who will be governing 26,000 students of the university.

“We (administration) are here to provide you satisfactory service delivery. We are one family at PSU. You are our children, not merely customer – admin relationship. Since we are one family, huwag kayong mahihiya na sabihin ang mga concerns ninyo. Sino ang magtutulungan kundi tayo na pamilya. All the doors of PSU are open for you,” Dr. Galas said.

The President added that he is also an alumnus of PSU which is why he understands the feelings, experiences and the needs of the students.

“We are continually improving. Rest assured na ang gagawin ninyong mga estudyante ay mag-aral.
Your concern on facilities, infrastructure, budget and other things will be the worry of the administration. Hindi niyo na aalalahanin ‘yun, We will provide sa abot ng aming makakaya to produce students who are employable at may mabuting pagkatao,” he added.

Leading the new breed of officers is Chary Ann May Santos of PSU Lingayen Campus, the newly elected FSG president and consequently, the new Student Regent who will be part of the PSU Board of Regents.

“I am grateful sa lahat ng estudyante na nagtiwala sa akin. Rest assured na gagawin ko ang lahat para mas marinig pa ang boses ng bawat estudyante at mas makilala pa ang FSG and magkaroon ng collaborations and partnerships with different organizations, campuses and other universities,” the young Santos said.

She added that her immediate plan, along with the other officers, is to re-introduce FSG as the highest governing body among students that could help them with their concerns and issues to enjoy quality education.

Jubilant witnesses to the oath taking include: Faculty Regent Ace John Mark Liwanag, outgoing Student Regent Joward Medina, Director Marinuelle Aquino of the Student and Alumni Services, Director Venus May Sarmiento of the Public Relations and Information Office, Lingayen Campus Executive Director Dr. Renato Salcedo and incoming FSG Adviser Mr. Frienzky Macayana.

The new set of officers from the nine campuses of PSU who emerged victorious after the Miting De Avance and Elections held at the Golden Lion Hotel are as follows:
