The Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC) Midterm National Conference and General Assembly has officially commenced today, July 9, 2025 bent on forging the future by empowering SUCs through innovation, sustainability and excellence.
Pangasinan State University, which actively participates in this biennial event, joined 113 SUCs in the country at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City to foster meaningful dialogue, collaboration and the exchange of ideas among higher education leaders, key stakeholders and development partners.
PSU President Dr. Elbert M. Galas, who was elected as the PASUC President for Region I, joined other PASUC regional chairs, national officers, keynote speakers and distinguished guests in the processional as part of the welcome program.
The PSU delegation also included Vice President Dr. Ian Evangelista of the Local and International Affairs Division, Vice President Rosario DL. Valencerina of the Administration and Finance Management Division; University Accountant Rennie Martinez, Legal Consultant Atty Ricardo Cachola Jr, Presidential Management Director Dr. Juan Primitivo Petrola and Public Relations and Information Director Venus H. Sarmiento.
Secretary Amenah Pangandaman of the Department of Budget and Management served as keynote speaker of the event who stated that the youth can only fulfill their role as hope of the nation when they are empowered through quality education.
“It is the SUCs that help turn the dream of every learner into reality, thus the education sector remains the government’s top priority with an allocation of P942 billion for 2025. This budget includes a total allocation of P127.2 billion for SUCs nationwide,” said Hon. Pangandaman.
The DBM Secretary also announced that the department will soon be issuing the circular for the second phase of the Reclassified Organizational Structure and Staffing Standards (ROSS) which she said would greatly help the SUCs.
