Wrapping up this year’s PRIME Camp, the delegates were immersed in community service and extension activities on July 4, 2025.

The PRIME campers took an early trip to Brgy. Mapita in Aguilar town for a tree-planting activity in collaboration with the local government unit of Aguilar.

Pangasinan State University, through the leadership of President Elbert M. Galas, shared that the Mapita community has been a partner in many PSU initiatives because of its welcoming vibe from locals and its rich, vibrant culture.

Fruit-bearing trees such as jackfruit (langka) and cashew (kasoy) were among those planted. The PRIME campers showed their love for nature as they happily did the planting themselves.

The team’s excitement continued with a cultural show performed by the pupils of Mapita Integrated School, followed by a sharing of indigenous practices led by the community chieftain and the school administration.
OVPLIA Vice President, Dr. Ian D. Evangelista, wholeheartedly thanked the community for their warm welcome to the PRIME delegates and for the trust they have given the university since the beginning of their partnership.

Meanwhile, Chieftain Rodolfo Mallari stated that the core values of Mapita locals, particularly in Sitio Laoag, are grounded in preserving cultural practices and passing on humility, responsibility and respect across generations to sustain their cultural heritage.

Directors Dr. Armando D. Junio, Dr. Jesusa Sanchez, and Dr. Vladimir Marie E. Cabutotan, as committee chairs of the said activity led by VP Evangelista, expressed their gratitude to the community, the Aguilar LGU, PNP personnel, and volunteers for the success of the immersion activity.
