Global Citizenship Education (GCED) was created as UNESCO’s response to the challenges of human rights violation, inequality, peace security and poverty. It is a strategic area of UNESCO’s Education Sector program and builds on the work of Peace and Human Rights Education. It aims to instill in learners the values, attitudes and behaviors that support responsible global citizenship: creativity, innovation, and commitment to peace, human rights and sustainable development.
UNESCO collaborates with an extensive global network to disseminate GCED. It can be remembered that PSU was selected as Region 1 Hub for GCED during the two-day Signing of Memorandum of Agreement and Launching of GCED Philippines Network gathering held at the Swiss-Belhotel Blulane in Manila in October 2022.
PSU , led by University President Dr. Elbert M. Galas, and touted as the region’s premier state university of choice, was established not only to explore innovations and improve work but more evidently , to serve as a BRIDGE in addressing these global concerns.
