Pangasinan State University held the ceremonial turnover of leadership from the Commission on Audit (COA), signifying a fresh perspective in its financial processes and systems.

University President Dr. Elbert M. Galas expressed his profound gratitude to outgoing COA Resident Auditor for PSU, Atty. Gretchen Escano and graciously welcomed the incoming audit leadership of Auditor Abraham Junio, in a fitting ceremony on December 11, 2025 at the Audio-Visual Room in Lingayen town.

“The Auditors are here as our guides, not as enemies, aligned with their objectives to make the Philippines a better country. We learned from them. We improved our processes from their inputs and observations and became more progressive on the utilization of budget in accordance with the law and its implementing rules and regulations,” President Galas said.

He added that as an academic institution, PSU teaches its students to become good, responsible and accountable leaders, the traits that PSU embodies in all its financial and administrative transactions and processes.

Atty Escano, fondly described as the “cool, objective and fair auditor” served as the PSU resident auditor for five years and is now assigned to monitor the Bureau of Internal Revenue and Cooperative Development Authority. Certified Public Accountant Junio, on the other hand, served as auditor of BIR Region I prior to his assignment in PSU.
