โIt is with honor and pride to welcome our alumnus and also, our friend who now is the President of NEU. We thank him for the warm accommodation accorded to PSU when we visited them in Quezon City in September last year. Now we welcome you to our university to formalize this meaningful partnership. This collaboration is not merely a document but a symbol of our shared commitment to advancing education, fostering knowledge exchange and creating greater opportunities for our students and faculty,โ Dr. Galas said.
The President went on to share PSUโs journey on the Philippine Quality Award (PQA) which he said was not an overnight success but the result of handwork and determination and a united collegial body.
In addition, Vice President Celeste Mercado of the Quality Assurance Division, together with Director William Cayetano, shared first-hand experiences in the processing and submission of application for PQA, along with some tips in hurdling the interview part.
This discussion was followed by the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the two institutions led by their respective Presidents.
As stipulated in the MOU, the areas of cooperation include, but not limited to: joint and collaborative research projects, organization of lectures and conference, co-development of academic programs and curricula and exchange of faculty, researchers and students, among others.
In response, Dr. Domingo thanked PSU for the warm accommodation and said it is their noble aim and objective to ink the historical and momentous piece of document with PSU.
โThis is a trailblazer to achieve higher level of quality. Any institution could not attain world class status if it is not instituting quality mechanisms. This entails a lot of work, but like what our Executive Minister Brother Eduard V. Manalo said, nothing is impossible with the help of our Lord God Almighty,โ Dr. Domingo said.
Witnesses to the signing include Vice President Dr. Manolito Manuel and Legal Officer Atty Darius De Guzman for PSU side while Vice President Dr. Simmonnette Leoncio and Legal Officer Atty Randy Zarate stood as witnesses for NEU.
A brief open forum moderated by Public Relations and Information Office Director Venus May Sarmiento immediately followed.
PSU, the regionโs premier university of choice, continues to open its doors not only to state universities and colleges but also to private HEIs and other government institutions to develop academic cooperation and promote mutual understanding.
