In an effort to uplift and strengthen local communities, Pangasinan State University – Open University Systems (PSU-OUS), in collaboration with the Gender and Development Office and PSU Lingayen Campus (PSU-LC), organized a livelihood training project for the beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) in Brgy. Poblacion, Lingayen last September 2, 2024.

Spearheaded by the Nutrition and Dietetics Department faculty of PSU-LC and the PSU- OUS GAD Office led by GAD Coordinator Dr. Presley V. De Vera, the workshop focused on the development of practical and entrepreneurial skills of the participants. These include making of Pork Siomai and Fabric Conditioner, and preparation, labeling, and packaging of Coconut Jam, helping them establish their own small-scale businesses.

This initiative, is not only in response to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which includes SDG 1 (No Poverty); (SDG 5) Gender Equality; (SDG 😎 Decent Work and Economic Growth, but also reflects PSU’s commitment to empowering marginalized sectors, thereby fostering inclusive growth within local communities in Pangasinan.

The PSU-OUS family, led by Executive Director Dr. Phillip G. Queroda, expresses its heartfelt gratitude to Brgy. Poblacion, under the administration of Punong Barangay Mr. Hiram C. Hidalgo, for its unwavering support of this project.
