Pangasinan State University formally re-opened its gates for all students participating in the limited face-to-face classes. After more than two years of not having physical classes owing to the pandemic, campuses welcomed students back for the second semester of School Year 2021-2022 with all systems up in all the nine campuses.

Campus Executive Directors of Alaminos, Asingan, Bayambang, Binmaley, Infanta Lingayen, San Carlos, Sta. Maria and Urdaneta led their faculty members in welcoming the students in their respective campuses which was followed by an orientation program.

The orientation program aimed to guide students on the conduct of face-to-face classes under the “new normal”.

Guidelines containing health protocols to be observed within the campus were discussed. It covered procedures for contact-tracing, lockdown of office/s once a case of COVID-19 is recorded, as well as isolation of virus-positive individuals.

Students were filled with excitement as their request to have their classes on the campus premises was granted. However, only those who have submitted their requirements are allowed to attend the physical setup with restrictions. The requirements include: vaccination card, health insurance issued by PhilHealth and informed consent signed by the student and their parent/guardian.

University President Dr. Dexter R. Buted and the five Vice-Presidents of the University, Dr. Manolito Manuel (Academic Affairs); Dr. Elbert Galas (Administration and Linkages), Dr. Paulo Cenas (REIGN); Dr. Corazon Puzon (Planning and Finance Management ) and Dr. Marcelo Gutierrez (Quality Assurance), visited the nine campuses of PSU to personally monitor the opening of face-to-face classes.

“To our students, you are the reason why we are here. Kayo ang mga tunay naming mga ’hari’ dito sa unibersidad, at sana kayo rin ay magkaroon ng kooperasyon, sundin sana natin ang mga health protocols,” said President Buted in his special message delivered at the campuses.

The transformative president also expressed his gratitude to the people behind the university administration for their invaluable contribution in improving service delivery and overseeing the construction and development of school infrastructure despite the ongoing crisis.

Pangasinan State University, a premier educational hub in the ASEAN, has invested vast resources to support the implementation of the F2F classes. Some of the investments include a P10-million Intelligent Building funded by the Commission on Higher Education; the P25-million Smart Campuses also funded by CHED; and some P19-million for Smart TVs and other gadgets.
