The University’s partnership with academic institutions abroad has become evident as a PSU faculty expert took part in an international conference in Indonesia.

Pangasinan State University led by its President, Dr. Elbert M. Galas, extends support to its employees to venture to international engagements and bring innovation to quality education internationally through sending them and taking part in international conferences.

“As one of the pioneering universities in the region, we uphold our mandate to take part in the ever-evolving innovations of the academe. We continue to serve as a conduit of knowledge that supports continuous growth and advancement,” President Galas added.

The recent International Conference on Education Innovation and Learning Transformation (InnoTeach) 2025 held in UHAMKA, Indonesia, Dr. Juan Primitivo P. Petrola, served as a keynote speaker along with other educators in Asia.

In his speech, Dr. Petrola shared six key points about education, (1) Education is the Heart of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, (2) Gender Equality and Interlinked SDGs: Keys to a Sustainable Future, (3) From VUCA to the BANI Ecosphere: Navigating a Fractured Future, (4) Global Citizenship Education: Learning for Humanity and the Planet, (5) Insights from the TESF Network: Co-Creating Transformation, and (6) Higher Education: Engine of Sustainable and Equitable Progress.

“Education should be a continuous act of becoming and belonging. Yet its true power unfolds only when it is rooted in inclusion, sustainability and empathy—for innovation without inclusion widens inequality, transformation without sustainability threatens our shared future, and learning without empathy loses its soul and purpose,” Petrola added.

According to him, the mission of educators is clear: to make education not only the path to opportunity, but the foundation of peace, equity and resilience.

Dr. Petrola is an Associate Professor in Pangasinan State University and the Director for Presidential Management and Liaison Office. Other keynote speakers were Prof. Dr. Gunawan Suryoputro, M.Hum. of Indonesia, Prof. Dr. Ardi Findyarin, Ph.D of Indonesia, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohamad Khairi Bin Haji Othman of Malaysia.

InnoTeach 2025 is organized by UHAMKA in collaboration with the Directorate of Transformative Learning Strategies and Systems, under the Directorate General of Science and Technology, Ministry of Higher Education Science and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia.
This year’s theme is “Driving Education Innovation and Learning Transformation for a Sustainable Future.”
