Recognized as a Center of Excellence in Teacher Education, Pangasinan State University (PSU) held its university-wide orientation and webinar for practice teachers on September 3, 2025.
A total of 1,112 students enrolled in the practice teaching course across the nine campuses participated in the orientation, which was conducted via Zoom.
University President, Dr. Elbert M. Galas, emphasized that through such activities, soon-to-be teacher professionals will gain a deeper understanding of real-life contexts before their deployment.
OIC Vice President for Academics and Student Services, Dr. Weenalie T. Fajardo, noted that teaching internship is a period of selfless dedication to the chosen profession.
“As future public servants, you are called to be different—to teach and serve with humility, integrity, and a deep concern for the common good,” VP Fajardo said.
The orientation, themed “Empowering Educators: A Journey of Growth and Discovery Towards Teaching Excellence,” was spearheaded by the University Internship Office headed by its Director, Dr. Erna M. Salazar.
Meanwhile, Vice President for Research, Extension, and Innovation, Dr. Razeale G. Resultay, served as the keynote speaker.
“This season is about discovery—not only about education itself but also about who you are within. You will discover the power of presence, empathy and connection. Every lesson you prepare is not merely about covering topics—it’s about touching hearts, building confidence and leaving a mark that lasts far beyond the classroom,” Dr. Resultay said.
Resource speakers included campus internship coordinators: Prof. Josephine C. Gonzalo of Binmaley Campus (Nature and Scope, Practice Teaching Guidelines and Requirements); Ms. Kimberly Jean P. Cabalbag of Infanta Campus; and Dr. Gina B. Selga of Asingan Campus (Anti-Sexual Harassment and Data Privacy Act).
Unlike in previous deployments, Pangasinan State University is now assigning teaching interns to basic education, fully aligning with the school calendar set by the Department of Education.
