Celebrating excellence among the Pangasinan State University studentry, Gerald F. Santos of Lingayen Campus, was hailed as the recipient of this year’s prestigious award- the ‘Gawad Parangal para sa Pinakanatatanging Mag-aaral ng PSU’
President Elbert M. Galas (PEMG) graced the occasion and acknowledged the event’s primary role which is to recognize the excellence and resilience of a true PSUnian.
“Ang pagdaraos ng Gawad Parangal ay isang magandang patunay na sinisikap ng administrasyon na magampanan nang mahusay ang tungkulin nito sa lahat ng mag-aaral,” PEMG said.
PEMG added that in his three years of service as the University President, the goal of his administration is to provide every PSUnian with quality education and to address their needs in terms of facilities and technology.
Anchored on the theme ‘PSUnian na may Glokal na Kahusayan at Kahandaan para sa Industriya: Tulay sa Pandaigdigang Ugnayan at Kabalikat sa Bagong Pilipinas,’ the prestigious award was first introduced 11 years ago during the term of PSU President Dr. Dexter R. Buted.
Pinakanatatanging Mag-aaral Awardee 2025, Gerald F. Santos, is a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management student and a Magna Cum Laude. ‘My 11-year journey in public service stands as a testament to my commitment to community and nation-building,’ Santos said.
Meanwhile, Asst. Professor of the University of the Philippines – Los Baños, Mr. Jonathan “Ethan” Hernandez, served as the guest speaker of today’s event.
In his speech, he recounted his journey from attaining a bachelor’s degree to becoming an educator and forester, despite the poor status of their life.
The annual prestigious search for exemplary PSUnian is spearheaded by the Office of the Vice President for Academic and Student Services led by OIC-Vice President, Dr. Weenalie T. Fajardo particulary the Office of Student and Alumni affairs headed by Ms. Marienuelle T. Aquino.
Vice Presidents Dr. Rosario DL. Valencerina, Dr. Razeale G. Resultay, Dr. Celeste T. Mercado, Dr. Weenalie T. Fajardo, and Dr. Ian D. Evangelista took part in the said event. Regents Ace John Mark P. Liwanag, Chary Ann May C. Santos, University officials and Campus Executive Directors were also in support.
The Provincial Governor of Pangasinan, Gov. Ramon Guico III, was represented by Atty. Ronn Dale Castillo to show support for the occasion held at the Sison Auditorium.
This year’s Pinakanatatanging Mag-aaral awardee received a cash incentive courtesy of the 6th PSU President, Dr. Dexter R. Buted.
