Pangasinan State University President, Dr. Elbert M. Galas, called on the PSU community to support and take the lead in promoting volunteerism, as he himself is an advocate.
In line with the celebration of ‘Pistay Dayat’ 2025 in Pangasinan Province, PSU is among the agencies with booths located along Maramba Boulevard, Lingayen. It showcases one of its volunteerism initiatives, the COMMUNIVERSIDAD Outreach and Volunteer Program.
“Development begins at home [in our small community, we do not only rely on the services given by the government but it is also our initiative to help the government as major contributory to nation building,” President Galas said.
The PSU COMMUNIVERSIDAD booth also featured a comprehensive walkthrough of the project, including its accomplishments since its establishment in 2023, as showcased in its flyers and posters. The booth also displayed products from the Food Innovation Center of the Bayambang Campus.
Vice President for Research, Extension and Innovation (REI) Dr. Razeale G. Resultay along with the Director for Extension Services, Dr. Lorena E. Echalar, spearheaded the participation of the university in the said event.
The said PSU booth was teamed with its partner agency, Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA) as the later initiated the Volunteerism Advocacy During Festival Initiative (VADFI) through the setting up of a Bayahinan Information booth.
As today’s event, May 1, also coincides with Labor Day, Dr. Galas honored and recognized the efforts of individuals in various workplaces particularly PSU personnel for extending their service beyond their job descriptions.
A coastal clean-up drive on May 5, 2025, will also be participated in by PSUnians as part of the university’s volunteerism initiatives.
