The afternoon session of the second day of the Internationalization Week showcased the rich culture and tradition of neighboring Asian countries.
Following the cultural expo in the morning, September 10, a cultural forum was held and participated in by Japanese, Malaysian and Filipino delegates.
The Office of the Vice President for Local and International Affairs led by Dr. Ian D. Evangelista, welcomed the participants at the Dr. Telesforo N. Boquiren Convention Hall.
During the said forum, Engr. Karl Marx A. Florante of the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) led the promotion of Filipino Culture through Indigenous Textiles.
The Global Culture Exchange Inc.-Japan represented by Mr. Junichi Takatsu, Mrs. Kayoko Saito, Mrs. Mari Nakumura, Mrs. Kumi Yoshida, Mrs. Tomomi Matsumuto, staged the proper way of donning Japanese Kimono, ceremonial preparation and presentation of matcha (Sado), the art of paper folding (Origami) and presentation of Ancestral Idea.
The Malaysian team headed by Dr. Amalia Qistina Castaneda binti Abdullah, Dr. Rafidah binti Kamarudin and Ms. Anis Shahira binti Bazlan of Universiti Teknologi Mara-Malaysia brought Batik Canting and Syair Poetry in the forum.
PSU President Dr. Elbert M. Galas lauded the fine representation of culture from other countries for the event. Giving full support to the fusion of culture were Vice Presidents Dr. Evangelista, Dr. Razeale G. Resultay, Dr. Manolito C. Manuel, Dr. Jenylyn V. Oboza, and Dr. Celeste T. Mercado along with OVPLIA Directors, Campus Executive Directors and student leaders.
