𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 launched its very first magazine on Gender and Development in a ceremony on April 28, 2025 marking another milestone in the institution’s promotion of gender equality and empowerment.
Aptly titled, ‘𝐔𝐫𝐝𝐮𝐣𝐚 𝐆𝐀𝐃 𝐌𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐳𝐢𝐧𝐞’ the ISSN- registered publication had the legendary warrior princess of Pangasinan, Urduja, for its cover page. It boasts of 17 members of the editorial board and 19 writers and contributors for Volume I, Issue I.
𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐃𝐫. 𝐄𝐥𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐭 𝐌. 𝐆𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐬, who was represented by 𝐕𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐑𝐚𝐳𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐚𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡, 𝐄𝐱𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, said the publication celebrates the legacy of Urduja as well as the innumerable women who lead, nurture and transform the communities.
“𝑃𝑆𝑈 ℎ𝑎𝑠 𝑎𝑙𝑤𝑎𝑦𝑠 𝑏𝑒𝑒𝑛 𝑎 𝑏𝑢𝑙𝑤𝑎𝑟𝑘 𝑜𝑓 𝑖𝑛𝑐𝑙𝑢𝑠𝑖𝑣𝑖𝑡𝑦 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑒𝑥𝑐𝑒𝑙𝑙𝑒𝑛𝑐𝑒. 𝑊𝑒 𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑚𝑎𝑟𝑘𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑦𝑒𝑡 𝑎𝑛𝑜𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟 𝑚𝑜𝑣𝑒 𝑡𝑜 𝑝𝑟𝑜𝑚𝑜𝑡𝑒 𝑎𝑛 𝑎𝑡𝑚𝑜𝑠𝑝ℎ𝑒𝑟𝑒 𝑤ℎ𝑒𝑟𝑒 𝑒𝑚𝑝𝑜𝑤𝑒𝑟𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡 𝑖𝑠 𝑣𝑎𝑙𝑢𝑒𝑑 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑑𝑖𝑣𝑒𝑟𝑠𝑖𝑡𝑦 𝑖𝑠 𝑐𝑒𝑙𝑒𝑏𝑟𝑎𝑡𝑒𝑑 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑙𝑎𝑢𝑛𝑐ℎ 𝑜𝑓 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑈𝑟𝑑𝑢𝑗𝑎 𝐺𝐴𝐷 𝑚𝑎𝑔𝑎𝑧𝑖𝑛𝑒,” President Galas said.

𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐆𝐀𝐃 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐃𝐫. 𝐑𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐝 said the Urduja GAD magazine is a vibrant and engaging publication dedicated to celebrating the rich culture, heritage and innovations of the Filipino people

Meanwhile, 𝐄𝐱𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐨 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐜𝐞𝐝𝐨 𝐨𝐟 𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐧 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐬 in his welcome remarks said the publication draws inspiration from Urduja’s strength, wisdom and leadership while 𝐆𝐀𝐃 𝐜𝐨𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐔𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐭𝐚 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐬 𝐃𝐫. 𝐑𝐮𝐛𝐲 𝐀𝐦𝐚𝐝𝐨 congratulated the employees of PSU for the launch and said the next issues will also involve students’ articles.
Reflection from 𝐃𝐫. 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐩 𝐐𝐮𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐚, 𝐄𝐱𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐒𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦 and one of the contributing writers, said the publication reaffirms PSU’s collective role in promoting gender inclusivity.
Part of the program is the awarding of certificates of recognition for those involved in the publication, given by 𝐌𝐞𝐠𝐚 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬.
The event was also witnessed by the university 𝐕𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬-𝐃𝐫. 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐨 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐞𝐥, 𝐃𝐫 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞 𝐌𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐨 and 𝐃𝐫. 𝐈𝐚𝐧 𝐄𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚 together with University and Campus officials.
