The Pangasinan State University welcomed the Bicol University (BU) delegation for a benchmarking activity on quality assurance mechanisms, May 8, 2025.
BU tapped the university as model for QA improvements following the attainment of PSU of the Philippine Quality Award.
PSU President, Dr. Elbert M. Galas, said that the benchmarking activity strengthens collaboration of the two academic institutions in filling in the gaps among established practices. President Galas termed it, “both institutions share the responsibility of supporting each other.”
The Office of the Vice President for Research, Extension, and Innovation (REI) led by Dr. Razeale G. Resultay who was represented by Dr. Lorena B. Echalar, Director for Extension Services, warmly welcomed the BU Delegation.
Meanwhile, Dr. William V. Cayetano, Director for Local Accreditation, showcased PSU’s quality assurance mechanisms and best practices in the attainment of the Philippine Quality Award (PQA) along with Dr. Randy Joy Ventayen, Director for International Accreditation.
“Obstacles are meant to be hurdled.” Dr. William V. Cayetano told the BU delegation. An open forum was facilitated by Ms. Venus May Sarmiento, Director for Public Relations and Information Office.
“I believe that we are united in one mission that is, to provide the best quality of education to our students. There is no competition among us, but rather complementation.” Dr. MA. Julieta B. Borres, Bicol University’s Vice President for Academic Affairs, said.
Director for Research and Development Office, Dr. Rhowel M. Dellosa, delivered an inspiring message for closing remarks.
