Armed with the goal of exchanging best practices that inspires the community to establish a better future for State Universities and Colleges, the Pangasinan State University facilitated another on-site benchmarking activity with the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University-Mid La Union Campus on June 17, 2022.
The DMMMSU-MLUC delegates were warmly welcomed by the Director and Deputy Director for the Students and Alumni Affairs Office Prof. Celeste T. Mercado and Mr. Mark Marlon De Vera, respectively, along with the Head of Career and Skills Unit Dr. Regina Santos, the Campus Student Services & Alumni Affairs Coordinator Mr. Francis Gerald Amansec, the Head for Admission & Guidance Services Ms. Marinuelle Aquino, the Coordinator for Lingayen Campus Admission & Guidance Services Ms. Beverly Fernandez, and other University officials.
In a short program, Prof. Mercado presented the duties under her department saying that the primary goal of the Students and Alumni Affairs Office is to ensure the holistic development of the students.
“I know that this encounter-engagement will definitely leave a smile on our faces as we shall not only acquire new learning from one another but of course new friends”, she said.
Prof. Aquino of the Admission & Guidance Services, shared the institution’s response at the onslaught of the pandemic, including the unit’s sudden shift to providing online consultation and other services.
“We devised a way on how to accommodate the students without coming to school. So, we started the online application for admission which saved us a voluminous number of papers”. Ms. Aquino stated.
The meeting of minds transitioned to an open forum where both institutions shared and learned ideas and inspirations for growth and development.
In response, DMMMSU Head for Student Affairs and Services Dr. Bernardo D. Lamadrid, who led the delegation, expressed his gratitude and appreciation to PSU saying, “Ako po ay natutuwa at namangha. Pangasinan State University has really achieved the premier status na talagang hahangaan po ng bawat higher educational institution not only in Region 1 but in the whole country.”
PSU’s pursuit of excellence and promotion of positive dynamics with other academic institutions is a culture instilled by University President Dr. Dexter R. Buted to bolster premier education in the countryside.
