As various university offices strive for quality mechanisms, the Gender and Development Office welcomed delegates of Tarlac Agricultural University for a benchmarking activity, June 19, 2025.
Publication materials, social media management, templates and processes for project proposals, and gender mainstreaming in the curriculum and academic programs were among the discussions in the Meeting of Minds.
Pangasinan State University President, Dr. Elbert M. Galas, stressed that gender and development must not end with awareness but should be ingrained in the University’s culture and day-to-day operations.
“In all the policies we craft at PSU, and in all the activities we prepare for students, employees, and even our stakeholders, we aim to impart not only insights on gender equality, gender inclusivity and the principles and concepts of GAD, but also to embed GAD as an integral part of every individual’s being — as if it were a piece and parcel of the human anatomy,” the Director for Presidential Management and Liaison Office, Dr. Juan Primitivo P. Petrola, shared in welcoming the TAU delegation.
The Director for Gender and Development of PSU, Dr. Romary R. Lincod, led the presentation of best practices and spearheaded the discussion of offices’ practices along with campus GAD coordinators. “Our secret lies in having a supportive system that recognizes the essence of GAD in everyday life,” Dr. Lincod added.
The TAU delegation, led by its GAD Director, Dr. Ma. Theresa B. Nardo, visited PSU’s GAD Office for a first-hand experience of its processes and also shared their own mechanisms implemented in their university.
“Maraming salamat po. Hindi po kami nabigo sa pagpunta dito sa PSU dahil marami po kaming natutuhan,” Dr. Nardo said.
PSU, an industry-driven state university, continues to open its doors to other academic institutions for sharing and partnerships.
