The 2023 National State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA) Games have officially commenced, embodying the spirit of unity through sports across state universities and colleges for national development. Hosted by Tarlac Agricultural University in collaboration with the Province of Tarlac, the games, slated from October 1 to 6, have seen a grandiose parade and opening ceremony setting the tone for a week of fierce yet friendly competition among the nation’s finest student-athletes.
The program commenced with a grand parade featuring delegates from various State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) across the country. The spectacle was a vibrant display of camaraderie and sportsmanship, encapsulating the theme of this year’s event. It was a sight to behold as athletes, donned in their regional colors, marched in unison, embodying the unity and shared goals of their respective institutions towards contributing to national development through sports.
Region 1’s delegation, inclusive of Pangasinan State University, made a significant presence in the grand parade and opening ceremony. Led by University President, Dr. Elbert M. Galas, alongside Sports Director, Dr. Arlene B. Kon-ek, Cultural Director, Dr. Ramil L. Dacal, and Faculty President, Mr. Ace John Mark P. Liwanag, the delegation paraded with a buoyant spirit. The campus sports coordinators and coaches were also in attendance, showcasing their solidarity and support for their athletes.
The ceremonial torch was lit, signifying the start of a week filled with sportsmanship, competition, and the pursuit of excellence. It also symbolized the guiding light of education and sports melding to form a strong foundation for national development.
