Another international title in the field of research has been taken home as the Pangasinan State University research team was awarded ‘Best Paper’ in the International Conference on Marine Sustainable Development and Innovation (MSDI) 2023.
The award-winning research paper titled “Extraction and Utilization of Distilled Water as By-Product from Salt Refinery” showcased the innovative work of faculty members Eric A. Cunanan, Analyn I. Diola, Christian Garret F. Aquino, Irene De Vera and Julie M. Agpaoa, all distinguished researchers from PSU.
Their ground-breaking study delves into finding sustainable solutions within the salt refinery industry, aiming to maximize resources and reduce environmental impact.
The said international conference, which took place from July 21-23, 2023 held in Nha Trang, Vietnam, served as a platform for the exchange of the latest innovations, trends and practical challenges encountered in the realm of Marine Sciences.
“This work is primarily focused on the extraction and utilization of distilled water, which is a valuable by-product that arises during the salt refining process. Traditionally, this distilled water is often discarded, leading to wastage and potential environmental harm. However, through meticulous research, the team was able to devise an innovative approach to harness and repurpose this distilled water efficiently,” shared by the PSU research team awardees.
About 250 research papers from different countries such as Vietnam, Canada, Norway, South Korea , Taiwan, UK and Japan were presented and three of which are from Pangasinan State University-Asingan Campus.
Dr. Rosario DL. Valencerina, the Campus Executive Director at PSU Asingan, expressed her pride in the team’s achievements and thanked the university President Dr. Elbert M. Galas for his support in promoting environmentally responsible practices and contributing to the advancement of scientific knowledge in the field of sciences.
